胡春宏教授致贺词
Speech made by Prof.
Dr. Hu Chunhong, Secretary General and Vice Director of IRTCES at
the opening ceremony of the US-China Workshop on Advanced
Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering, Sept. 20
2005, Oxford, Mississippi, USA
Distinguished Chairman, Dr. Prof. Sam
Wang,
Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning!
At first, on behalf of International Research and Training
Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) I would like to
congratulate the opening of the US-China Workshop on Advanced
Computational Modeling in Hydrosciece and Engineering. As you know,
due to reschedule to workshop, the National Center for Computational
Hydroscience and Engineering (NCCHE) has paid double efforts and
vigor in organizing this important workshop for several months. On
this occasion, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to
NCCHE for making excellent arrangement for all of us,
Since 1990’s, the scientific research cooperation between
IRTCES and NCCHE has been continued by exchange visit of scientists.
Last year, a MOU has been officially signed for enhancing this
cooperation in the various fields. The US-China Workshop on Advanced
Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering is the first
cooperative activity based on the MOU. I believe that it is a good
and active start.
Actually, for the long time, we have had lot of discussions with
NCCHE for organization of this workshop for promotion of development
of computational modeling. Today the opportunity has been provided
to all of us. In China and USA the computational modeling in
Hydrosciece and Engineering is developed so fast. I think it is
necessary for exchange ideas in this field periodically. It will be
mutually beneficial. As the co-sponsor of this workshop, IRTCES
organized major leading Institutions in hydraulic engineering
research in China to attend this workshop, such as China Institute
of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), Nanjing Hydraulic
Research Institute (NHRI), Yellow River Scientific Research
Institute, YRCC(YRSRI), Changjiang Scientific Research
Institute(CSRI), Changjiang Water Way Bureau (CWB), Southwest
Hydro-Engineering Research Institute for Waterway (SHRIW) and Wuhan
University(WU), etc. At the same time, I have a great pleasure to
know that the scientists from USA are also involved in major leading
institutions in hydraulic engineering research of USA. It is very
good opportunity for both sides. I believe all of us will have a
good exchange around the topics of the workshop through
presentations and discussions. Three-day workshop is too short. I
hope the deep exchange and discussion for both sides will be
continued forever.
I wish the US-China Workshop on Advanced Computational
Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering very successful and
fruitful!
Thank you very much!
