Abstract

Clearing sedimentation in Tongguan Reach is one of the synthesis measures, it was begun in 1996, and lasted for 8 years till 2003.Aims to justfy the adaptation of different discharge and characteristics of the river. Not only can it be implement in different river regimes, but also can take effect in the same year after construction. In some years, it is shown that tremendous effect have been obtained by clearing sedimentation in Tongguan Reach, including improve the local riverbed boundary conditions, improve the capacity of sediment transportation, adjust distribution of sedimentation, reduce sedimentation in river, delay raise rate of Tongguan Elevation or lowering Tongguan Elevation etc. It is complicated that the influence factor of Evolution of Tongguan Elevation, incoming flow and sediment are key factors.

According to the observation of clearing sedimentation, and many years’ fields measured data of the paper discussed the influence on Tongguan elevation by clearing sedimentation in Tongguan Reach and its methods, principle on present river. To put forward feasible measures to delaying raise of Tongguan Elevation or reduce more Tongguan Elevation.
