Abstract
The report is devoted to two issues of erosion and riverbed development
processes within Volgograd agglomeration. The first one describes erosion
processes and relief forms that constitute the morph sculpture characteristic
of the Lower Volga left bank where Volgograd is situated. Its destruction in
the recent decades has brought harmful effects onto the agglomeration in the
form of under flooding and observable decline in the living conditions of the
population. The other issue is about the shrinkage of the Volga-Akhtuba alluvial plain resulting from the deficiency in
water release by hydro electric plant in the period of spring flood. The
problem of water release can be settled only by the federal authorities.
