Abstract
The object of this paper is the problem of the appreciation
the efficiency of flood-control measures and their influence on the channel
processes at the early studies of design. A new
method of the numerical modeling of effect of river training on the channel
processes of mountain rivers is proposed. The example
of the efficiency of this method may be the flanking dike,
witch was designed on the bases of the numerical modeling
dates, built on the mountain river Mzumta (Sochi, Russia). With the help of the numerical modeling of this types, most efficient type was chosen – it
is the building of the flanking dike on the island, situated in the inside
delta of the river and the channel dredging
of the left fork. In the year
2004 all the project measures suggested had been successfully realized. The flanking dike had
already seen a few large floods
and now it is successfully working.
