Abstract
By solving
the falling spheroid’s dynamic equilibrium equation in the water and on the
bed, the corresponding formulas of falling distance and stable falling distance
were obtained respectively, based on the condition of two-dimensional flow.
Relevant coefficients determination was discussed. Analysis on formulas’
specialties of indicated that the flow structure influences the falling
distance of thrown body obviously. These formulas are with characteristics such
as clear physical meaning, convenience to use and satisfying calculation
accuracy. Verification and analysis were put in practice for the formulas
through experiments and calculation, respectively. The results make it clear
that calculation values are in good agreement with the experimental data. All
these shows the formulas of falling distance and stable falling distance could
be used in engineering practice.
