Abstract
OrangeIslet is located in the middle of Changsha river
stretch of Xiangjiang River. Its disordered current
status has a strong impact on the ecology and environment of the Changsha city and is eagerly regulated. In combination of river channel evolvement analysis and physical model tests, this
paper studies and demonstrates the possible influence of integrated regulation
works for bank line of OrangeIslet on the river
regime, flood control, navigation and important water-related structures etc.,
and analyzes the affect of these works on the ecology and environment. Research
result indicates that the construction of these works is favourable to the
mutual merging among the islet, water and city, and is easy to form a favorable regional ecological environment, but it will
exert an adverse impact on the flood control level near the river stretch, the
diversion ratio of branching channels, and the local erosion of No.1 Xiangjiang bridge. In order to maintenance the river’s
health, the authors put forward the optimized improvements for regulated
schemes according to the reasons leading to these adverse impacts to provide
the reference for the decision and design of works. Meanwhile it also shows
that physical model is an effective technical means to study the river
regulation works and plays an important role in the protection and development
of a river and in keeping a healthy river.
