Abstract
The Paper starts from an analysis of the conditions for a slurry river
under pressure, discusses the internal mechanism of the slurry river formation
and establishes the critical condition for the formation of a slurry river. With
the information of the experiment in the lab water trough, a test analysis has
been done on the obtained equations, achieving satisfactory results. The slurry
river, when formed, is close or equal to zero in its velocity of flow changed.
Therefore, it is more appropriate to base our consideration on the actual
physical pattern for the formation of the slurry river. The slurry river
process or the slurry river is taken to mean the whole process in which sediment
mass in the test section of the river has undergone repeated intermittent flows
during a long period of time, including three types of movement, stopping,
starting and moving of the sediment mass. During that period two kinds of critical
conditions exist for a corresponding formation and start of the sediment mass. By
critical conditions for the formation of the slurry river, it is meant the
critical state or state of stoppage for the sediment mass in the process of the
slurry river that flows until it comes to a stand still in the test section.
