Abstract

The variation of flow and sediment has been appeared in the Yellow River estuary since 1986. The evolution of coast of the Yellow River estuary was affected greatly. The epeirogenic velocity of coast slows down, even negative increase appears, parts of coast erodes violently. The continuable dvelopment and the protection of entironment were theatened by the erosion of coast in the Yellow River estuary. Using the methods of field data analyses and theoretical study, the characteristic of the variation of flow and sediment is generalized, the evolution process of coast is opened out, the relationship of epeirogeny of coast and the variation of flow and sediment is probed into deeply. Aimming at disadvantage phases of erosion of coast, the synthetical critical equation of epeirogeny of coast is imported, it provides a scientific gist to control erosion of coast availably in the Yellow River estuary.
