Abstract

The Yellow River Delta has a fragile ecological environment by frequent diversions of the flow on history. This paper discusses the limitations of the traditional countermeasures of flow diversion, and provide the relatively fixed river path in Yellow River Delta and the specific management measures, river water and sediment control of the corresponding construction projects, which are the key to improve the ecological environment of the Yellow River Delta. The author advised to build the water and sediment control project in the flow path Xihekou (axial flow path diversion points) which radiate 4500km² in the Yellow River Delta and the project including a rubber dam and flood diversion gate of 3000m³/s composition.
