Abstract

The river-sea geochemical barrier – marginal filters are formed within the river and sea water mixing zones in river mouths. Data of the content and composition of aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water, suspended particulate matter and bottom sediments in Dvina river – the White Sea are presented. Anthropogenic hydrocarbons (petroleum and pyrogenic) could not pass marginal filter of river and have not further spreading in open part of the seas. Therefore natural compounds prevail in the composition of hydrocarbons in water and bottom sediments of the White Sea.
