Abstract
Through two-dimensional mathematical model, it is
studied that the influence of “secondary hang river” to stream distribution
between flood plain and main channel, velocity of parallel levees. It can be
obtained the critical velocity of erosion resistance to levels is 0.8m/s in Lower Yellow River, based on actual
velocity of parallel levees and indoor scour resistance experiment. So it can
be received that the difference should be little than 2.5m between the nature levees’ elevation and average
elevation of flood plain near the levees, when bankfull
discharge was 4000 m3/s
and the topography was the one in 1999 after flood and no consideration of
production levees.
