Abstract

Numerical modelling is one of the main methods to study river channel evolution, which includes the following contents: (1) generation of calculation grid and arrangements and transformations of data. (2) Flow and non-uniform sediment transport. (3) Advances in numerical modeling on the evolution of meandering and braided channel patterns. In this paper, some main advances mentioned above and the related problems existed are discussed. In the end, some difficulties and prospects of numerical modelling of river channel’s evolution are discussed.
