Abstract
Until now all research work related to river alluvial process consideres the river system as a classical dynamic system,
but this paper views alluvial river process as a nonlinear dynamics system. As
a nonlinear system some brand new phenomena are explored such as chaos, pattern
evolution, butterfly effect, strange attractors. Based on experimental results
and real river data, the stability and predictability of river alluvial process
are discussed. The
conclusion shows that sometimes the alluvial river system is unstable and
unpredictable inherently somehow.
