Abstract
A numerical model
is described that predicts development of meanders and consequent channel
wandering. The model is one-dimensional based on a sediment budget with
transverse flux components in cross-sections governed by secondary flow. A plan
form of channel centre-line is approximated by cubic spline
that allows to simulate development of meanders and
their downstream shifting. Realistic simulations of hypothetic sinuous and
segmental meanders as well as meandering section of the Kolp’
and the Youg Rivers are presented.
