国际泥沙研究培训中心主任高季章宣布世界泥沙研究学会成立

    国际泥沙信息网10月19日讯  世界泥沙研究学会于今日正式成立，国际泥沙研究培训中心主任、中国水利水电科学研究院院长高季章宣布世界泥沙研究学会成立，并对第一次理事会决议及主席、副主席和委员会名单进行了宣读。

Speech by Prof. Gao Jizhang at the Inauguration Ceremony of WASER

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to inaugurate the establishment of the World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research. The abbreviation of its name of the new association is WASER. The First council meeting of WASER has been successfully held in Beijing on 16 Oct. 2004. The members of the council are scientists and engineers of international influencing in the field of erosion and sedimentation. The council of WASER is composed of 19 members, they are:

 Prof. Des Walling from United Kindom,
 Prof. C. Ted Yang from United states,
 Prof. G. Di Silvio from Italy,
 Prof. Marcello Gavimo Novilo from Argentina
 Prof. Helmut Scheuerlein from Austria
 Prof. Edwin D. Ongley from Canada
 Prof. Bingnan Lin China and Zhao-Yin Wang from China
 Prof. Erich J. Plate from Germany
 Prof. Ranga Raju from India
 Prof. Farhad Yazdandoost from Iran
 Prof. Syunsuke Ikeda from Japan
 Prof. Wojciech Froehich from Poland
 Prof. R.S. Chalov from Russia
 Prof. Gerrit Basson from South Africa
 Prof. L.C. van Rijn from the Netherlands
 Prof. A.Szollosi-Nagy from the UNESCO
 Prof. Sam Wang and Dr. John Gray from United States of America

The first council meeting discussed and approved the statutes of WASER and elected president, vice presidents and secretary-general of WASER. Prof. Des Walling was elected as the first president of WASER, Prof. C. Ted Yang and Prof. G. Di Silvio were elected as the vice Presidents, Prof. Zhaoyin Wang was elected as the secretary-general of WASER.

The council meeting decided that the second council meeting and assembly of WASER will be held in Moscow in 2007.
