INTRODUCTION

Under the cooperative agreement between the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) and the National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering of the University of Mississippi (NCCHE) the first US-China Workshop on Advanced Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering was successfully held on September 19-23, 2005 at the University of Mississippi. About 50 scientists and experts from leading institutions and universities of both countries involved in hydroscience and engineering research and management presented at the workshop. All participants benefited much from these technical exchanges and discussions at the workshop. For continuing promotion of scientific exchanges in the field of computational modeling in hyroscience and engineering NCCHE and IRTCES, have decided to organize jointly the Second Sino-American Workshop on Advanced Computational Modeling in Hydroscience and Engineering on November 25-26 2006 in Beijing. Among the approximately 50 total participants, one half each, shall be from China and the USA. A few reknowned experts from other countries will be invited as Guest Lecturers to benefit the participants.
