2. GENERAL INFORMATION
2.1 Conference Venue and Accommodation
The ICEC2006 is to be held in the Ramada Pearl Hotel. The Plenary sessions are held in the Kaixuan conference room in the second floor of the Ramada Pearl Hotel. For the parallel technical sessions, the meeting rooms of Kaixuan VI, Kaixuan VII, Kaixun VIII and Pearl River II are used.
Participants and their accompanying persons are accommodated in the Ramada Pearl Hotel .
Breakfast and lunch are served in the Lotus Garden or California Café in the ground floor. Both the welcome reception and the closing ceremony will be held in the Diyuan Hall.
2.2 Lift service
Baiyun Airport:Free lift service will be provided on Nov. 27 and 28 from airport to the Ramada Pearl Hotel for all participants and their accompanying persons. Participants are required to inform the LOC the exact arrival time and flight information.
Guangzhou Railway Station: Free lift service will be provided on Nov. 27 and 28 from the station to the Ramada Pearl Hotel for all participants and their accompanying persons. Participants are required to inform the LOC the exact arrival time and train information.
The Ramada Pearl Hotel ( in Guangzhou): We strongly suggest the participants who miss the lift service or arrive by other transportation rather than flight or train take the taxi to go to the Ramada Pearl Hotel.

2.3 Registration
On-site registration will be available form 8:30 to 21:30 on Monday, November 27; from 8:30 to 18:00 throughout the conference.
The registration desk is set in lobby of the Ramada Pearl Hotel, which will provide consultation service for the participants throughout the event. The registered participants will have a bag carrying the hard copy and CV of the proceedings, also name tag, lunch coupon and others printing materials from the registration desk. The participants who didn’t registered yet can register and pay at the registration desk. Tickets for the reception, banquet, luncheons, technical tour and accompanying guests activities can also be purchased at the registration desk.
2.4 Information Boards
Information boards are placed around the registration desk for releasing the latest announcements issued by the LOC and posting any messages from the participants via conference secretariat.
2.5 Conference Secretariat
The office of conference secretariat locates in room *** in the **** floor of the Ramada Pearl Hotel.
2.6 Free Internet Service
The participants are entitled to free access to internet in Room *** of the Ramada Pearl Hotel to check email or prepare/modify their speech etc..
2.7 Other Services
The participants can make consumption easily with their credit card (such as VISA) in the Ramada Hotel The hotel provides foreign currency exchange services in US dollar, Sterling, Euro and Japanese Yen. Please contact reception desk for details.

5. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
5.1 Plenary Session
Plenary Sessions are held in the morning of November 28 and 30. Eight renowned academicians and scholars have accepted the invitations to present Keynote Lectures of broad interest during Plenary Sessions.
5.2 Parallel Session
Four Parallel Session are held in the afternoon of November 28 and 30. Invited Lectures are arranged in the Parallel Sessions. Please reference the details of programs in this booklet and select the most interest ones to attend. The last-minutes Presentation Schedule will be posted on the information board at the entrance of each parallel Session room.
Time: 8:30am – 17:00pm, November 29 (Wednesday)
Plan: the attendees will be divided into four groups, Group A, B , C and D, to take bus and head to Pearl River Estuary at 8:30am. Please notice the gathering information of each group on the information board of the registration desk.
5.4 Instruction for Speakers
l The authors who will provide a oral speech in parallel sessions should contact the session chairs before the session. They are also expected to be present in the session room 15 minutes in prior to the session begin to check with the technical staff for their presentation.
l The speakers who have not submitted the .PPT of their oral report are requested to submit the questionnaire and the .PPT file to the Conference Secretariat (room ***, floor of the Ramada Pearl Hotel) one day before their presentation. The staff will be responsible to dispatch all related E-files to each session room.
l The speakers need to pay more attention to the announcements posted by the LOC on the information board of the registration desk in order to know the latest time or order changes of the presentation schedule.
5.5 Instruction for Session Chairs
The success of each session mostly depends on the chairing technical of the session chairs, so
l The chairs should assign the duties and do more preparation for the session. We suggest all chairs can arrive 15 minutes in prior to the session begin so that you will have sufficient time to meet the speakers and know them well, also to make sure all technical facilities settled.
l The chairs are responsible to control the schedule. Each parallel session lasts 120 minutes, the chair need to allot roughly equal time for each speaker according to the number of presentations in the session (the invited speak can be slightly longer). The chairs may reserve a short closing remark for the chaired session. At the start of the chaired session, the chairs must remind the attendees to switch off or mute the mobile phone.
l The speaker’s brief resume will be delivered to the chairs by the LOC. The chair is responsible to introduce the speaker’s background and research achievement before his/her presentation.
l After each presentation, the chairs should encourage discussion. If necessary, the chairs may repeat the question in a louder voice and/or clarify the questions for the speaker. The chairs are expected to study the papers presented in their chaired session in prior and prepare some questions to initiate the discussion.
l The chairs also need to pay more attention to the announcement of the latest changes on sessions posted on the information board of the registration desk.
The participants should wear the name tag when attending any activities of ICEC2006. Please report lost of the name tag to LOC ( Room ***,**** floor of the Ramada Pearl Hotel)for replacement.
